What are oil separators and grease separators?

These systems ensure that oils and greases do not enter sewers. The presence of these wastes can have major environmental consequences. Besides the cost of getting the water back clean, it is also bad for sewers. So it is cheaper to purchase separators than to filter the water and unclog the sewers. Pluvio owns a wide range of separators.

Separators absorb the contaminated water and separate the water from the oils or fats. The water is then sent on to the sewers.

Where are they placed?
An oil separator removes oils from rainwater or wastewater. Where is this most common? Especially carwashes, garages, gas stations and loading docks, but basically anywhere where oils end up in the water.

In turn, a grease separator is mainly used in the food sector. Examples include slaughterhouses, caterers, butcher shops, restaurants. TIP: Place grease separators closest to where grease enters the pipes. This will mainly be the kitchen, because that's when they work best.

A grease separator is mandatory because grease and oil disposal is prohibited. An oil and gasoline separator is not yet mandatory everywhere. At a carwash, gas station and car wash it is certainly mandatory, but in other places under conditions.

What is the range?
Pluvio sells separators in various sizes. All our grease separators are in HDPE and comply with EN-1825-1-2 standards. Our oil separators also meet the appropriate standards, namely EN858-1 and -858-2. We sell the oil and gasoline separators with and without a bypass. The advantage of a bypass is that the tank does not overflow with rainwater. It is more controlled.
